Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026.

Preliminary policy

This is a preliminary policy, written to reflect what trove24 actually does today. It has not yet been reviewed by legal counsel and will be reviewed and updated before public launch.

Information we collect

  • Account information. Your email address, display name, and (if you sign in with Google) your profile photo.
  • Listings. The titles, descriptions, categories, condition, price, and photos you choose to upload when selling an item.
  • Location. The city or town you enter for a listing or a search. We convert this to an approximate map location so distance-based search works. We do not collect precise GPS location or track your location in the background.
  • Messages. The content of messages you send other users through in-app messaging, so conversations can be delivered and displayed.
  • Order and review history. Reservations, order status, and the reviews you leave or receive.
  • Basic technical data. Standard information like device or browser type, used for security and to keep the service reliable.
  • Anonymous usage events. We record that certain things happened on trove24, for example that a listing was viewed, that a search was run and how many results it returned, or that an item sold. These records are not linked to you. They do not contain your name, your email, or any account identifier, so they cannot be traced back to a person or assembled into a profile of what you looked at. See How we measure usage below.

We do not collect or store payment card numbers, bank account details, or any other payment credentials. All payment currently happens directly between buyer and seller, outside trove24 (for example, cash on delivery or a bank transfer they arrange themselves), so trove24 never sees or handles that information.

How we use this information

  • To operate the marketplace: showing listings, connecting buyers and sellers, and messaging.
  • To power distance-based search, using the approximate location described above.
  • To calculate and display seller ratings from the reviews you and others leave.
  • To send you notifications about your own activity (new messages, order updates), and newsletter emails only if you sign up for them.
  • To enforce our Terms of Service, including reviewing reports of suspicious activity.

Where your data is stored

trove24 is built on Google Firebase and Google Cloud, which host our database, file storage, and sign-in system. Our infrastructure runs on Google Cloud servers in Europe (europe-west3, Frankfurt). Google acts as our data processor under our use of their platform.

How we measure usage

To understand what people are looking for and whether the marketplace is working, we keep a count of things that happen on trove24. This is built by us and stays on our own systems. No third party analytics or advertising company receives your data, and there is no tracking script from anyone else on this site.

These records are deliberately anonymous. They store what happened, when, and the minimum context needed to make the number useful, for example a category, a town, or a search term. They do not store who did it. There is no account identifier on them, so they cannot be linked back to you or used to build a picture of one person's browsing.

Records about messaging are stricter still: we count that a message was sent and nothing else. No sender, no recipient, no conversation, no content.

The detailed records are deleted after 30 days. What remains after that is a daily summary containing only totals, for example how many listings were created that day or which search terms returned nothing, with no personal data in it at all.

Cookies

trove24 does not use advertising or analytics tracking cookies. The usage measurement described above does not use cookies either, and does not follow you across other websites. Firebase Authentication uses your browser's local storage, not a traditional cookie, to keep you signed in between visits. This is essential for the app to work and is not used to track you across other sites or to serve ads.

Who can see your information

trove24 does not sell your personal information. Your public profile (display name, photo, and rating), and anything you list for sale, are visible to other users of the marketplace, since that is how a marketplace works. Messages are only visible to the participants in that conversation.

Blocking and reporting

If you block someone, they are not told, and only you can see who you have blocked. Nobody can look up who has blocked them.

We do count blocks, and you should know that before you use the feature. If several different people independently block the same account, that shows up to our moderators as a number, with a note that it is a signal to look into rather than proof of anything. It never names who blocked whom. This happens whether or not anyone files a report, because blocking is an action taken against a person rather than a private preference, and one person choosing not to report should not hide a pattern that several people can see.

If you report someone, our moderators read what you wrote, and that is deliberately all they get. Nobody at trove24 can read your conversations, at any level of access, so anything you want us to see has to be something you tell us or paste into the report yourself.

Your rights and choices

From your account you can change your display name, set or change your city, and delete individual listings you have created, at any time. Your profile photo cannot be changed in the app yet: if you signed in with Google it comes from your Google account, and otherwise there is no photo. To have a photo changed or removed, contact us.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account yourself, from your account page. It happens immediately and it cannot be undone. We will ask you to confirm your password or sign in again first, because this is the most destructive thing you can do to your own account.

One thing has to be settled first: if you have an order still in progress, as a buyer or a seller, finish or cancel it before deleting. An order in flight is a commitment to someone else, and deleting halfway through would leave them holding a record they cannot resolve. If you are stuck on one, tell us and we will sort it out.

When an account is deleted:

  • Your sign-in is deleted, so you can no longer log in, and your email address is released so it could be used to register again later.
  • Your display name, profile photo, email address, and saved location are removed from your profile, and your listings are taken down.
  • The photos you uploaded are permanently deleted from our storage, not just hidden.
  • Your saved favorites and notifications are deleted, along with any blocks you set up.

Some records are kept with your identity anonymized rather than deleted, because they are not only about you:

  • Reviews you wrote about other people. These count towards other sellers' public ratings. Removing them would quietly change scores that other people earned, so the review stays and your name comes off it.
  • Past orders. Every order has a buyer on one side and a seller on the other. Deleting one side's copy would leave the other person with a broken record of something they really did buy or sell.
  • Conversations. A conversation belongs to both people in it, so messages are not deleted when one person leaves. The other person keeps their side of an exchange they were equally part of.

If this does not work for your situation, tell us and we will talk it through rather than treating it as settled.

Children's privacy

trove24 is not intended for use by anyone under 18, matching our Terms of Service, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as trove24 changes. We will update the date at the top of this page when we do.
